WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A REPUTABLE NEWFOUNDLAND BREEDER
It is very important to be extremely cautious when looking at puppy adverts/or puppies for sale on the internet, there are many scams circulating which offer non drooling or hypoallergenic Newfoundland’s. Other scams will send you pictures of a puppy and offer to ship it to you if you pay up front deposit. You should never put a deposit down on a puppy you have not physically seen with a person you have not personally met. Most of the reputable breeders do not need to advertise their puppies as they usually have a list of new owners. They only advertise if they have cleared their list and have a few left over, this is usually on DogzOnline.
You should always endeavor to visit Newfoundland breeders, view their kennels and their dogs. it is normal that you may have to join a waiting list for your puppy, your breeder should be able to tell you roughly when they are breeding again and when you can get a puppy. It is also normal your breeder will ask you to sign a contract when purchasing your puppy, it is important you read and understand the contract presented to you as breeders contracts will not be the same in every case. Ensure you ask lots of questions about your breeders contract so you fully understand what you are signing and agree with the contents of the contract. The puppy will come with pedigree papers which must stay wherever the puppy is residing, beware of false pedigree papers and do your research on the breed giants as they're not for everyone.
Ask your breeder for tips on your new puppy as the breeder knows the lines very well, try to stay away from advice on the internet chat sites, always go back to your breeder for advise as they know your puppy better than anyone. What may work for one dog may not work for other dogs. Beware of scams.
